This CD is included with the 280-page book "Música Instrumental no Benim - Repertório Fon e Música Bàtá", which brings together a series of studies conducted by Marcos Branda Lacerda on the music of West African peoples who influenced Brazilian cultural formation. In his research, he had access to various important musical groups and presents in this book a detailed analysis of Yoruba and Fon ritualistic repertoires from the cities of Pobè, Sakété, and Ouidah, in southern Benin. The CD includes all the repertoires discussed, which formed the basis of his descriptive and analytical work.
